The Kingsville Downtown National Register District sits at the district’s core. The district contains commercial buildings, government buildings, museums and churches dating from 1904 to today, mostly constructed of brick, stone or concrete.
Historic Main Street is committed to revitalizing downtown as the economic and cultural center of the community. Kingsville’s ranching, railroad, and Hispanic heritage bring people and economic investment to our downtown. The National Main Street program is the vehicle through which to build those connections to public and private stakeholders, rekindle community pride and capitalize on downtown’s unique physical assets.
Historic Main Street is part of the National Registered District found in the core of the local Historic District. It contains commercial and government buildings, museums, and churches constructed of brick, stone, or concrete dating back to 1904.
Since Kingsville rejoined the National Main Street program in 2011, private property owners, business owners and the public sector have invested over $26 million in the downtown area. These buildings are occupied by a variety of businesses from banks to clinics to salons to retail to restaurants. The National Main Street Program and its partners provide free classes and seminars to business owners and links to resources to help with things like marketing, promotion, and finance. Texas Main Street offers, among other things, free design assistance to building owners wishing to restore the façade of their historic downtown buildings. Many of the properties are eligible for local incentives, state, and federal tax credits.
The Main Street Advisory Board promotes downtown revitalization through the Main Street Four Point Approach and hosts the annual Imagine the Possibilities Tour as well as various activities throughout the historic Kingsville Main Street.
