The City of Kingsville submitted a grant application to the Texas General Land Office on October 28, 2020, under the Community Development Block Grant for Recovery-Mitigation Program – 2016 Flood State Mitigation regarding the Citywide Wastewater Collection System Improvements. The application requested $7,293,111.00 for wastewater improvements pertaining to the adopted Wastewater Capital Improvements Plan. On March 11, 2021, the City of Kingsville was notified by the Texas General Land Office that it was awarded the grant, which includes construction cost, Engineering fees, Grant Administration fees, and the City’s 1% match. The project aims to increase community resiliency by reducing economic loss from inflow and infiltration into the wastewater collection system., protecting public investment in community-owned facilities, minimizing environmental impacts of hazards, and minimizing disruption to utilities.
